Mother's Day Gift Ideas

Mother's Day is fast approaching (March 18th). If you have no idea what to get your mother here is some gift ideas!

Paul Costelloe has a new line in Dunnes Stores. This Watercolour Print Cushion will be loved by many mothers around the country! A perfect gift to make her happy! (€35.00 Dunne's Stores)

Marks and Spencer's Florentyna Eau de Toilette 100ml €16.00/ £12.00. This is the perfect Mother's Day perfume. I love the shape of the bottle, the flower lid really makes it look pretty!

For a great alternative to real flowers why not get your mother a Lush Tulip? How cute are these?! The Tulip is also the symbol of International Women's day which is an added bonus. Mothers can put their feet up and relax in up to six baths using this wand. For an extra special surprise tell your mother to bury the tag in the garden and water the soil. In the summer she will be greeted with some lovely Tulips! There is Tulip seeds embedded in the tag! I think this is amazing! (£4.95 each so about €6)

Another real flower alternative is a Three Flower Orchid Pot £5.00/€6.00 from Heatons. This is a lovely little present! The orchids are artificial so not only will your mother have this pretty plant on Mother's Day, she will have it all year round! I love the colours in it!

If your Mother is anything like my Mam she will love a handbag this Mother's Day! This Savida Bag €30 /£26 is a great way to show your Mother how much you care!

I hope this helps with Mother's day gift ideas!

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mothers out there! Especially to my lovely Mam! x

Valentines Presents for YOURSELF all under €5!

I really don't believe in the whole Valentines Day present giving. I think it is a holiday made up by Hallmark to earn a bit of cash! There should not just be ONE day a year when you give a gift or flowers to your loved one. However, who is to say you can't treat yourself to a little present! (Any excuse to shop!) So here is some recession friendly treats, all under €5 each! Turn a little pink/red for a day!

Essence Nail Varnish
Essence is a perfect way to get the Valentines day look! Each polish is only €1.29 so it's the perfect way to get a little pink/red. It's so cheap you can get a pink, red, purple , yellow, blue .....

Barry M Nail Paint
I love Barry M Nail polishes! They are always really pigmented and have a thick formula. The shade 'shocking Pink 272' is perfect for Valentines. It's fantastic quality for €4.50

Catrice Ultimate Colour Lipstick
Catrice have very cheap lipsticks. I LOVE the colour 140 Pinker-bell. It is a Hot pink lipstick. Also a lovely Valentines lipstick is 080 My Red Card! Go on put on a bit of colour! (€4.99 each)

Collection 2000 Hot Looks Fast Dry Nail Polish
Collection 2000 also have super cheap nail polish. They are only £1.79 (about €2.20) so it won't break the bank!

Lush Leap Frog
This lovely green frog with his bright red lips is a lovely little Valentines friend! For the extremely brave girls out there this little green frog is a reminder of what happens this year. 2012 is a leap year where girls get to propose! (I could NEVER do this!)

So will you be treating yourself this year?

Pow Wow Lip Scrub

I'm still a Lush Newbie so I'm really interested in trying new Lush products. After hearing from the blogger world that they have a sale in the New Year I had to go in for a look. Since I have SO much bath/shower products from my Soap and Glory 'Big Splendour Set' I did not want to buy any body or bath products. I did however want to have a look at Lush's cosmetics.

I have been interested in Lush's lip scrubs for awhile now but at €6.75 I kept thinking they were just too expensive. However, one little Lip Scrub 'Pow Wow' (I keep thinking of the old Batman fight scenes here POW!) had been reduced by 50%  and was now only €3.37. I had to buy it!

This lip scrub is unlike any I have used before. It can only be described as DELICIOUS. Yes Delicious! This tasty little product is edible! To use the lip scrub you rub it all over your lips and then LICK it off. It might sound a bit bizarre but it is amazing. The little particles that remove the dead skin are actually popping candy and bring me right back to the days when I was a child! So with the little help of snap crackle and pop your winter lips should on their way back to their normal state.

So what did I think? The lip scrub does smell and taste delicious (maybe to tasty.... ) but I do wish the size of the popping candy was smaller as it is a bit big at time to exfoliate the lips. (Lips do fell smoother though.) I do like this product and love the novelty factor but I don't think I would buy again. Despite that I like the product nearly €7 is too much for a lip scrub. An old toothbrush would work just as well to exfoliate the lips but would be a lot less tasty and fun!

Lush Products for dry skin !

I have extremely dry skin and now that winter has hit it means even more dry flaky skin. :( I have tried sooooo many products to try and help make my skin more smooth and human like! However, none seemed to work. After reading so many good things about Lush on different blogs I decided to pop in to the Henry Street branch and see if they had anything to help my dry skin dilemma. The shop assistant was so nice. She showed me so many products and really knew her information on each product. I worked in retail for many years so was very impressed by this.

One product that really stood out for me was the face mask ‘Oatifix’ (€6.95). This mask is for dry skin so it’s perfect for me. Oatifix's designed to ‘feed your face’  it contains Bananas as they are a rich oily fruit so they are fantastic to help get goodness into dry skin and illipe butter to leave skin smooth and to provide moisture. The mask also contains oatmeal and almonds that lift dead skin and gently scrub the face leaving the face looking brighter.

This product feels amazing on the skin. Ok, so it’s not the most attractive facemask in the world as it’s very lumpy but I believe that’s why it works so well. After ten minutes my skin felt amazing and my dry skin definitely reduced. I used it many times now and the difference to my skin is unbelievable! This is definitely going to be my new Holy Grail to help keep by dry skin at bay!

Oatifix is kept in the fridge and has a use by date of about 3 weeks so make sure to check when yours goes off!

The sales assistant also gave me a free sample of Celestial, which I am also loving. It’s a moisturiser designed to create a light barrier on the skin to stop moisture disappearing and to keep sensitive skin calm. I will definitely be buying this when my sample runs out!

I also got a copy of ‘Lush Times’ , as I had not bought any Lush products before I found this magazine really interesting as it has all of Lush’s products in it. (descriptions, reviews, pictures and cost) f like me your new to Lush definitely pick one up!
