The Body Shop - Mango Lip Butter

To be honest I’m not the biggest lip balm fan in the world. Well apart from Carmex, I never really bother with others. However, this was before I bought a lip butter from The Body Shop. Have I converted to a lip balm world?

I went to London for Christmas to visit my parents, while there I bought a magazine which had a Body Shop gift card for £3 free inside. Free gift card? I wasn’t leaving London without spending this. When I went into The Body Shop I remembered the curse of hand luggage.... 150ml products. Since I could not buy any body butter or body oils I decided to try a lip butter. The Mango lip butter caught my eye, it was hand luggage safe and only £1 after the gift card.

I was actually genuinely surprised how much I liked this lip butter. It’s so creamy and leaves my lips actually feeling moisturised. (I know the whole point of the product but I have had a lot of ‘lip balms’ in the past that leave my lips even drier! Grr) I love the texture it’s smooth and doesn’t make my hair stick to my lips, which is always a plus. This also smells deliciously good.

Would I buy again? I think so. Yes, I think my official I hate lip balm phase has come to an end. Well for now at least!

What do you think of The Body Shop’s lip butters? Yeah or nay?

August Favourites

With September only a few days away I'm starting to feel quite wintery. Where did the summer go? Here are my August favourites.

Jemma Kidd Make Up School I-Glamour Volume Mascara - My Mam got this free in the July issue of Red Magazine, she didn't want it so she gave it to me. I LOVE this mascara! I will do a full review on it soon. One of my favourite mascaras I have ever tried.

Avon's Naturals Key Lime & Passion Flower Volumising Shampoo - I was loving this shampoo this month. It really gave my hair a nice lift. Unfortunately I used it all up. I'm devastated as it's been discontinued. Wail. :( For a full review click here.

Beauty UK blush in 08 Dolly Pink - A gorgeous bright pink blush. It might look shocking pink but it looks great on my pale skin.

Body Shop Beautifying Oil - I'm still LOVING this product. I have used it everyday since I got it in June and still have loads left. It is the first product I have found that finally keeps my dry skin away. For a full review click here!

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes - This is the first time I have included a book in my monthly favourites. This book is a great read. From the first couple of pages I was hooked. Great characters and a great story line.

Until next month!

Monthly Favourites: June

Another month gone already. I can't believe it is July, this year is going so fast! Despite the awful weather in Ireland I'm doing my best to enjoy the Summer. Here is what I was loving during the rainy month of June.

Catrice Infinite Matt up to 18 h Make-Up foundation 010 Light Beige - This foundation is usually too dark for me, but since I have come back from Spain I can actually wear it. It gives meduim coverage and I find that it lasts all day. It doesn't last me the 18 hours as it claims too but I am happy with how long I do get out of it. It is a great foundation for the price €6.99. I hope they bring out a lighter shade for when my skin goes back to being super pale.

Kim Kardashion Gold - I love the smell of this perfume. It smells gorgeous and I recieved  a good few compliments about it this month. I try not to spray too much as the bottle is tiny.

Lily Cole Primer The Body Shop - This primer has recieved a lot of bad reviews but I actually love it! I use it  over my foundation to give my skin a lovely glow. It is annoying the way you have to really rub it in but I love the effect it gives so I don't mind this. For a full review click here.

The Body Shop Beautiyfing Oil - I declared my love for this product in one of my last posts. My new Holy Grail. I use it evryday and adore it. For a full review click here.

Sleek Rose Gold - This is a beutiful blush. It is is a peachy pink with a gold sheen. It's very pigmented so it's best to go light and build it up. It's a gorgeous summer blush that looks lovely with a tan. I have been using it everyday this month and love it!

So that is what I have been loving in June. What have been your favourites this month?

My New Holy Grail product!

My biggest skin problem is always dry skin. It doesn't matter if it is winter or summer my skin is always dry. I'm lucky that I never get any spots but I suffer from horrible dry flaky skin instead. Over the years I have tried so many products but none have been as effective as my new Holy Grail product, The Body Shop Beautifying Oil. I received this product at a blogger event and was immediately intrigued by it. It can be used on the body, hair and most importantly for me on the face.

Every night I rub a few drops onto my face before I go to sleep and the results have been amazing. My skin has totally transformed. It is no longer dry and flaky but smooth and soft. This is a total miracle for me as I have been trying to sort the dryness for years! The oil itself is not greasy and absorbs really well into the skin. You only need a small bit at a time so the bottle will last a long time.

The oil comes in a range of scents including Pink Grapefruit, Coconut, Moringa, Cocoa Butter, Mango, Strawberry, Shea, Sweet Lemon, Olive and Chocomania. I have the Shea version which is made from Community Fair Trade shea butter. It smells lovely and  is not as nutty as I would have thought. (I'm not the biggest lover of nutty smells but I love this!)

The oil is a bit expensive at €15, but it will last aaaaagggeees so it is well worth the price. I will 100% buy it again. I'm even tempted to get another one now so I can try the other scents. I would love to try the strawberry or mango version. If you have oily skin I wouldn't recommend you use the product on your face but if you have really dry skin like me this might be the product you are looking for!

Primer: Lily Cole for The Body Shop

The second post in my mini primer series is the new Lily Cole 'Pearl Radiance' primer from The Body Shop. About a month ago I attended a blogger event in The Body Shop in Grafton Street. I was lucky enough to get a goodie bag and this Lily Cole Primer was one of the items inside.

The primer comes in a 15ml bottle with a transparent packaging. (This is handy as you can see exactly how much you have left!). It also comes with a pump and a hot pink lid bearing Lily's signature. The product itself is made up of small pearls. The first time I used this primer I thought it was strange as it comes out quite lumpy. However, once you rub in all the pearls it leaves a lovely glow.

The primer is not overly shimmery but gives the skin a lovely subtle glow. I personally prefer to use it over my foundation as I prefer a thicker primer. At €20 it is a bit expensive but it is still cheaper than Benefit's That Gal which is quite similar when they are applied to the face.

Have you tried this primer?

Summer Scents!

Summer has finally arrived in Ireland! The arrival of hotter temperatures to our shores has me in a very summery mood. The new body mists by The Body Shop are the perfect summer scent to match my mood! The new mists come in the scents Pink Grapefruit, Coconut, Strawberry, Satsuma, Mango, Shea, Moringa and Vanilla.

At The Body Shop bloggers event I was lucky enough to receive two of these new mists in my goody bag. I got the gorgeous Mango and Coconut mists. Both mists smell amazing. They are light and refreshing, perfect for hot summer days. What I really love about the sprays is that they are made from Fair Trade ingredients and 100% not tested on animals! So while you smell delicious you are helping improve the lives of people and animals around the world. (Not bad for a body mist eh?!)

The only negative thing I found with the body mists is that they come in glass bottles. I like to throw a body mist in my handbag but I would worry about these in case they smashed. (I’m verrrry accident prone!) I will pour some into a travel bottle though so I can keep one on me when I’m on the go. (Little bottles are also great for when you’re travelling and have to squash so many items in the plastic airport bag…!) I hope you all enjoy the fab weather!

The Body Shop 'Beauty with Heart' Event!

It was with great excitement I went along to The Body Shops 'Beauty with Heart' event. It was my first ever bloggers event so you can guess just how excited I was! The Body Shop put on such an AMAZING show. From the minute we walked in we were greeted with a glass of champagne, strawberries,a chocolate fountain and lots of delicious cakes!

The delicious goodies!!!
While I waited for the event to start I met two LOVELY bloggers the lovely Kate from sleepingbootay and the lovely Celeste from madamesmadeup. (Check out their fantastic blogs!) Shampoo and Beauty were also at the event and curled Kate's hair. Her hair looked amazing! I was well jealous ha ha!

The Body Shop team then explained to us about the new launch 'Beauty with Heart'. I was really impressed with this new beauty movement. The Body Shop is launching a movement that challenges convention and pushes the boundaries of beauty. Their aim is to promote beauty as more than skin deep. They want their products to enhance your natural beauty rather than trying to hide under layers and layers of products. They hope that their customers:

Look Good
By using products that are powered by nature and rich in high quality ingredients.

Feel Good
By knowing the products come from an ethical brand.

Do Good
By using the products you are helping the environment, fair trade and animal welfare

The Body Shop team also showed us the new make up products including the new range from Lily Cole their first EVER activist! Very exciting!!

To top off a wonderful night they gave us a fantastic goody bag on the way out!
My amazing goody bag!! :D
Thanks so much to The Body Shop Ireland for such a brilliant night!

December Empties!

I love blogs that feature posts on their monthly empties! So here is my first monthly empties .... :)

Product - Lush 'Oatamix' face mask
Price - €6.95
What did I think? - I Loved this product! :) It really made a difference to my skin. For a full review click here
Would I buy again? - Yes I definitely would. I got about ten masks out of this product so it works out about 70 cent per mask which I think is a good deal.

Product - Penneys/ Primark 4 in 1 gentle facial cleansing wipes
Price - €1.50 for pack of two
What did I think? - I use this product just to remove eye make up. Works brilliantly and at €1.50 for 50 wipes? Brilliant!
Would I buy again? - Yes I have many times!

Product - Alberto Balsam Juicy Green Apple Conditioner
Price - €1.50
What did I think? - This product is for greasy hair, works well and nice apple smell!
Would I buy again? - I would buy again, however, I have also been using the mint version of this product which I prefer. The mint version has a nice tingle feel which I like but would buy apple version if mint was not in stock.

Product - No7 Intelligent Balance Mousse foundation in 'New Ivory'
Price - €17.50 I think! The tub is huge though so it lasts aaaages!
What did I think? - This product is super pale so BRILLIANT for ghost pale Irish skin like me! It is quite heavy coverage and covers any blemishes or dark circles. I have been using it for about 5 years and really like it. It was discontinued last year but Boots were forced to bring it back after the uproar of anger from lovers of this product! I will do a full review on this product soon :)
Would I buy again? - I have been buying it for 5 years so I will definitely buy it again!

Product -  The Body Shop 'Jolly Butter'
Price -  I think it's about €8 for a small tub (quite expensive)
What did I think? - I received this product as part of a set last Christmas. It's a lovely product, smells gorgeous and feels really luxurious on the skin. I have been using this sparingly as I didn't want to finish the tub!
Would I buy again? - I wouldn't but it myself as it's quite expensive, however, if anyone wants to buy it for me as a gift they are more than welcome! ;-)

Hope you like this post! :)
