Monthly Favourites: June

Another month gone already. I can't believe it is July, this year is going so fast! Despite the awful weather in Ireland I'm doing my best to enjoy the Summer. Here is what I was loving during the rainy month of June.

Catrice Infinite Matt up to 18 h Make-Up foundation 010 Light Beige - This foundation is usually too dark for me, but since I have come back from Spain I can actually wear it. It gives meduim coverage and I find that it lasts all day. It doesn't last me the 18 hours as it claims too but I am happy with how long I do get out of it. It is a great foundation for the price €6.99. I hope they bring out a lighter shade for when my skin goes back to being super pale.

Kim Kardashion Gold - I love the smell of this perfume. It smells gorgeous and I recieved  a good few compliments about it this month. I try not to spray too much as the bottle is tiny.

Lily Cole Primer The Body Shop - This primer has recieved a lot of bad reviews but I actually love it! I use it  over my foundation to give my skin a lovely glow. It is annoying the way you have to really rub it in but I love the effect it gives so I don't mind this. For a full review click here.

The Body Shop Beautiyfing Oil - I declared my love for this product in one of my last posts. My new Holy Grail. I use it evryday and adore it. For a full review click here.

Sleek Rose Gold - This is a beutiful blush. It is is a peachy pink with a gold sheen. It's very pigmented so it's best to go light and build it up. It's a gorgeous summer blush that looks lovely with a tan. I have been using it everyday this month and love it!

So that is what I have been loving in June. What have been your favourites this month?

Summer Scents!

Summer has finally arrived in Ireland! The arrival of hotter temperatures to our shores has me in a very summery mood. The new body mists by The Body Shop are the perfect summer scent to match my mood! The new mists come in the scents Pink Grapefruit, Coconut, Strawberry, Satsuma, Mango, Shea, Moringa and Vanilla.

At The Body Shop bloggers event I was lucky enough to receive two of these new mists in my goody bag. I got the gorgeous Mango and Coconut mists. Both mists smell amazing. They are light and refreshing, perfect for hot summer days. What I really love about the sprays is that they are made from Fair Trade ingredients and 100% not tested on animals! So while you smell delicious you are helping improve the lives of people and animals around the world. (Not bad for a body mist eh?!)

The only negative thing I found with the body mists is that they come in glass bottles. I like to throw a body mist in my handbag but I would worry about these in case they smashed. (I’m verrrry accident prone!) I will pour some into a travel bottle though so I can keep one on me when I’m on the go. (Little bottles are also great for when you’re travelling and have to squash so many items in the plastic airport bag…!) I hope you all enjoy the fab weather!

Avon's Secret Fantasy and Secret Fantasy Star Perfume

My boyfriend's Mam sells Avon, so I always ask for a brochure to keep me amused while my boyfriend watches football. I love the fact that even though it is a brochure you can still test perfumes by rubbing selected parts of a page. When I smelled 'Secret Fantasy' knew I had to have it. Both the smell and the look of the bottle reminded me of Britney's perfumes. I adore sweet smelling perfume so this is perfect for me. To make things even better there was a deal on, buy one perfume and get one free. So for €13 I picked up 'Secret Fantasy' and 'Secret Fantasy Star'.

Both perfumes are very sweet, very fruity, very girly. Secret Fantasy is 'a sweet blend of innocent red fruits and feminine jasmine, with an intense heart of velvety white musk and warm sandalwood.' Secret Fantasy Star differs slightly. It is 'a sparkling cocktail of mandarin and plum with mysterious night blooming jasmine, scarlet peony, and intimate silky sandalwood.' There is not a huge difference in the scents but smelling them side by side I can definitely smell a difference!

I love the packaging of both perfumes. They both come in very pretty boxes and cute bottles. Both also come with a detachable charm. The charm represents the meaning behind the perfume. Secret Fantasy has a key charm so you can 'Discover your innermost thoughts and dreams. Secret Fantasy, unlock the magic.' While Secret Fantasy Star comes with a star charm to 'stand out form the crowd, Secret fantasy Star, reveal your inner Diva.'
The perfumes charms.
The only negative thing I can say about the perfume is that it doesn't come with a lid. The charm comes with a little clasp that clicks around the top of the bottle so it can't spray. I'm not to sure how well this would work if I put the perfume into my bag as I think the clasp might come off easily. This is only a minor complaint however and is something that I could easily live with.

The charm clasp that stops perfume from spraying.
Both perfumes are perfect for the Spring and Summer months. If you are a lover of fruity scents like Britney's perfumes this might be a cheaper alternative. They cost €13 each but Avon have special deals on all the time. (As I mentioned above I bought mine in a buy one get one free offer, so they were only €6.50 each.) In Avon's current brochure both perfumes are in a buy one get one half price deal.

Suddenly Madame Glamour

In December Lidl launched its long awaited 'Suddenly Madame Glamour'. As soon as it was released it flew off the shelves. Unfortunately I did not get a bottle in time and was RAGING! After plaguing the poor Lidl twitter team for ages asking when it was back in store I had a bit of luck last week! Suddenly Madame Glamour was back in stores for Valentines Day! I skipped down to my local Lidl and picked up a few bottles (One for me, my Mam and my boyfriends Mam) Each bottle was a bargain €3.49!

So why did I want to get my hands on this perfume so badly? For months I had been reading in the media and online just how much Suddenly Madame Glamour is like Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle. (The perfume modelled by the lovely Keira Knightley) A blind smell test was carried out and 90% of people tested prefered the Lidl version over the Chanel! A blind test was also carried out on Tom Dunnes radio show on Newstalk where once again Suddenly Madame Glamour beat Chanel again!

So what did I think? Did I waste my €3.49 on cheap horrible unwearable perfume? Firstly I was quite impressed with the packaging. It looks a lot more expensive than what I paid for it. Honestly when I first sprayed the perfume I was 'Oh God it's awful'. BUT! After a few minutes the scent had changed and I actually quite liked it! It has a lovely floral scent that is very wearable. The only downside I found is that the staying power is not the best. I have not compared it to Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle yet but I will shortly. (I will give an update to see if it actually is a Coco Mademoiselle dupe.) In the meantime I would recommend you to run to Lidl before they sell out of this bargain!

Dublin Haul

Oh dear.... so much for NOT spending money in Dublin. While in Boots I noticed that Britney’s 'Midnight Fantasy' was 50% off. I LOVE the smell of this perfume. A girl I used to work with always wore it and smelled fab! I have wanted it for ages but at €25 I never seemed to get round to buying it. However, at €12.75 I could not resist. :)

The perfume is described as 'Britney Spears Midnight Fantasy opens with the forbidden richness of Black Cherries fused with Framboise and Exotic Plum. In the middle notes, the seductive Night Blooming Orchid and mischievous Freesia flirts with enticing Velvet Iris. Finally, in the base unforgettable, magnetic, sensuous musk, amber and vanilla.'

This perfume is very sweet and would not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I just think it smells divine! I'm a big fan of sweet perfumes so I love Britney's range. I'm also a big fan of the design and packaging of the perfume, both the actual bottle and the box. It's a perfume that looks pretty in my room! I have sprayed the perfume loads of times in Boots and find that it has a really good staying power. The scent stayed with me all day without the need to reapply which is always a bonus as the bottle will last longer.

I also popped into Awear to return a dress that I bought that didn't suit. They have a sale on at the moment so I had a goo at the sale Jewellery. I find Awear fantastic for sale jewellery and once again was not disappointed. I picked up this very unusual chain. I just LOVE the details on it and think it will really brighten up a plain dress/top. It was reduced in the sale to €3, I'm not sure how much it was full price but other necklaces in that range vary from €15- €25.

My lips are really dry with the cold weather that we are having and need lip balm on them every day. Today like the eejit I am I left my Carmex at home. By lunch time my lips felt dry and horrible so I went into a random chemist to pick up something to sooth them. The first think I grabbed was 'Blistex Intensive Moisture' it’s designed to sooth the lips with ‘Intensive Moisturiser contains 5 penetrating moisturisers for serious saturation & a unique formula that soothes your lips with a deep down tingle.' The product also contains Shea Butter for extra moisture.

I have to say I'm quite impressed with this lip balm. My lips felt so much better by the end of the day. It does however have an awful 'hospital' smell if that makes sense?! It is also very small so it would not last as long as a tube of carmex. Moisture wise I think it might be a winner but value wise Carmex would have to win.

Hopefully I will be able to stop myself buying anything the next time I'm in Dublin.... Hopefully :-/

Perfume Surprise

One day in Boots smelling the perfume, I came across an Ed Hardy Perfume I really liked. (I can’t remember the name of it… sorry!) However, looking at the price I nearly fell over in shock €60!!!! I sighed and sprayed it on me and continued shopping. I headed over to Marks and Spencer’s as I had to get clothes for work. (snooze!) Its no surprise I took a detour through the beauty section. By chance I decided to smell some of the perfumes and to my amazement I came across a very similar perfume to the Ed Hardy one in Boots!

This perfume is called 'Adored' and is so similar to the Ed Hardy perfume! Both perfumes have a citrus fruity smell which I really love. The only negative thing about 'Adored' is I find that the smell doesn't stay too long on the skin so you have to reapply throughout the day. It was a great buy at €8 however! :) 'Adored' was also in a special offer if you bought a perfume you could get another for half price so I picked up 'Bohemia'.

Unfortunately, I don't like 'Bohemia' as much as 'Adored'. I think I was drawn by the pretty bottle! Bohemia is a blend of lemon, blueberry, bergamot, lily of the valley, mimosa, cedarwood, amber and vanilla. Its nice but not wonderful. I would not buy again and I'm raging I didn't get a second 'Adored'. Oh well at only €12 for both of them I cant complain too much!
